Dodong Codilla: bringing hope to the barangays

CONG. DODONG CODILLA and MAYOR ERIC CODILLA of Ormoc with LEYTE 1ST DISTRICT CONG. MARTIN ROMUALDEZ at SP Building in Tacloban City.

CONG CODILLA during his filing of COC at COMELEC in 2007.

Even during his first term in office as the congressman of fourth district of Leyte, he considered the much needed projects in the barangays, water system, farm-to -market road, road concreting, school building, and multi-purpose buildings, etc. But aside from this tangible infrastructure projects that made him known for as the congressman in Region 8 " nga may pinaka daghang project" he likewise prioritized the delivery and improvement of health services, livelihood trainings, and education.

In Matag-ob and Palompon, its 22 kilometer rough road was given attention by the congressman. Sud sa dugay'ng panahon sa mga Locsin, wa gyod matagad ang karsada sa Matag-ob ug Palompon, but during the term of Congressman Codilla he lobbied for funding of the said road, and it was granted. Now some portion of the highway are already concreted like that in Brgy. San Miguel, Brgy. Tinubdan, Brgy. Liberty, in Palompon side. and in Matag-ob, portions somewhere in Sta Rosa, or Malazarte are already concreted, nga kaniadto sud sa dugay'ng panahon wa gyod na masemento.

Another important accomplishment of the congressman is the road linking Palompon and Ormoc via Domonar, that will cut short the 64 kilometers road distance of Ormoc and Palompon, by having an alternative route Palompon and Ormoc is now 32 kilometers away, 19 kilometers of which is part of the national highway, which is already concreted, so of the said road via Domonar, Cambacbac then to Tambis, ang portion na lang nga wa pa masemento is only 13 kilometers. (In fact, DPWH 4TH LED DE, Engr. Ric Odita told me that they inaugurated a road concreting in Cambacbac and they traverse this new route via Curva-Domonar then to Cambacbac.

Gymnasiums are also included in the priority projects of Cong. Codilla, like that in Merida and Isabel and in Palompon, P 60 Million Kausaban Coliseum will rise in Oval grounds, (its groundbreaking is set on November 28, 2009, kudos to Cong. Codilla and its officials led by Mayor Yoly Tupa, Vice Mayor Lloyd Surigao, etc. of Palompon.

Flood control projects were prioritized by the solon. Water system projects in different barangays who are in need like Tambis, Rizal, Cangcosme, Cantuhaon, in Palompon, road concreting projects in Puertobello in Merida, Honan in Isabel, new road in Brgy., Cambinoy in Palompon, Box culvert in Brgy. Rizal, Kananga, Leyte, and many other projects nga iyang gipabaha sa mga barangay sa kwatro distrito. (I HOPE I CAN SUPPLY DATA ON OTHER PROJECT BY NEXT WEEK)

And I as a journalist working in a local newspaper based in Tacloban and Ormoc, witnessed these inauguration and turnover of projects, some other barangay folks turned emotional like that in Cangcosme in Palompon, where a certain Eloy Laguardia and Boy Kano shed tears of happiness when the Congressman visited their barangay and give them water system projects. Nihilak sila ug niingon "at last, magka tubig na jud mi". I was touched.

BUT what I worried most is that the term of Congressman Codilla is only until 2010, and I hope and pray that the next congressman of this district will deliver like what DODONG CODILLA has accomplished in his term.
